Taiwan is becoming increasingly desirable as a production base in Asia due to its open environment, lower production costs, and abundance of talent. Taiwan’s landscape also offers a wide variety of locations for filming. Moreover, filming in Taiwan is safer in a post-pandemic era, thanks to contact tracing, social distancing and other safety measures supported by the government.
Taiwan’s government also provides incentives to attract foreign investment. Taiwan’s Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development of the Ministry of Culture (BAMID) has promulgated a set of regulatory directions for funding in order to assist international directors, as well as foreign film and television production enterprises, to shoot TV series or feature films in Taiwan. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Separate filming incentives are available from the local governments as well.
