Taiwan-based director Tsai Ming-liang’s latest work, “Stray Dogs,” shines at the 51th New York Film Festival yesterday. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize in Venice, Tsai’s film is highly anticipated, and it is also the third time that Tsai’s work has been chosen for NYFF.
According to the FSLC’s website, “Stray Dogs” is “one of the finest works of an extraordinary artist,” which “is many things at once: minimal in its narrative content and syntax, as visually powerful as it is emotionally overwhelming, and bracingly pure in both its anger and its compassion.
